Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What Are Eyelash Extensions?
A: Lash Extensions are synthetic strands that are made to replicate a natural eyelash. When applied, eyelash extensions lengthen and thicken your own natural eyelashes. Single strands are applied to each individual eyelash, one by one. With proper application, lash extensions look and feel completely natural.
Q: I Have Very Few Lashes, Are Extensions A Good Option For Me?
A: Eyelash extensions are applied to you individual eyelash hairs so if there are no lashes to apply extensions to then unfortunately extensions wouldn't be an option. However, even for individuals with very few lashes this procedure can make a big difference. You can always call us to set up a consult to assess whether you're a good candidate.
Q: What Do Eyelash Extensions Look Like When Applied?
A: With proper application, meaning one synthetic eyelash applied to one natural lash the look and feel is completely natural looking and real. Noone will know you have extensions. They will just think you were born with beautiful, long lashes!
Q: How Long Do Eyelash Extensions Last?
A: When applied properly, eyelash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes. Everyone’s experience will differ based on day to day activities but over all touchups should only be required every 2 to 3 weeks. A special waterproof bonding agent is used. Lash extensions can be worn year around with proper maintenance and care.
Q: How Often Should I Come Back For In-Fills (Touch-ups)?
A: We recommend getting a touch up every 2 to 3 weeks. If you wait too long your eyelash extensions will fall out and you will require a full set. To be considered a touch up you must still have at least 50% of your lash extensions left. Your natural eyelashes fall off every 45 – 60 days due to the natural growth cycle and are naturally replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. Other factors such as expsoure to steam or touching your eyes alot may cause the extensions to fall sooner. A touch up is needed to fill in any lashes that fallen. Touch ups average about 45 minutes to an hour.
Q: Can I still Wear Mascara With Extensions?
A: Yes, even though mascara is not really required since the extensions actually give the illusion of wearing mascara it can be worn.. It must however only be water based mascara. DO NOT USE OIL-BASED OR WATER-PROOF MASCARA. Waterproof mascara or any type of oil based mascara can dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your eyelash extensions causing them to fall sooner. Care also needs to be taken in washing off the mascara. Only use a water based eye makeup remover.
Q: I Have A Special Event Coming Up, When Should I Have Extensions Applied?
A: We generally recommend coming in 1-2 weeks before your special occasion for your initial full set followed by a touchup appointment 1-3 days before the date of the event. This will give you a chance to get used to wearing the extensions and if you decide you’d like to make any adjustments to the initial design, we can do that at the time of your touchup.
Q: How should I prepare for my eyelash extension appointment?
A: We ask that you arrive for your initial set and all subsequent fills with absolutely no makeup on your eyes. Makeup can create a barrier between your natural lashes and the extensions which will result in the extensions failing to bond completely and falling off too soon.
Q: How Do I Take Care Of My Extensions?
  • Do not get lashes wet for 24 hours after application. Light mist is fine

  • Avoid hot steam or sauna

  • Avoid running water directly on your lashes

  • Do not rub your eyes

  • Only use water based (oil free) mascara (optional)

  • Only use water based (oil free) products around your lashes.

  • If applying mascara do so from middle to tip, avoid root area

  • Use water based, oil free eye makeup remover

  • Do not perm your lashes

  • Do not use a mechanical eyelash curler

  • Do not pull on your lashes or rub them (this may cause your natural lashes to come out prematurely)

  • Try not to sleep on them, this will cause them to twist and prematurely fall out.

  • DO LIE and say they're yours =)

Q: Is the Product FDA Approved? Is it Safe?
A: Currently the FDA is not regulating eyelash extensions because the eyelash extensions are applied to the natural eyelash hairs and do not touch the skin. The application process is pain-free and relaxing, most clients fall asleep during the procedure. However, improper application by an unqualified eyelash technician can cause damage to your natural lashes. We recommend only using a licensed reputable lash artist. You can always check to see if someone holds a proper cosmotology license through the Florida DPBR.
Q: How Long Will It Take To Apply My Extensions?
A full set can take 2-2.5 hours depending on how many lashes you have. You'll be laying down on a soft, warm treatment table listening to soothing music is an ambient atmosphere. Most clients just relax or nap =)
Q: I Heard Extensions Will Damage My Lashes, Is That True?
A: That's an excellent question and the answer is both yes and no. Each eyelash grows at it's own rate and lashes are typically all at different stages in their growth cycle. If more than one natural lash is glued together they can't grow properly and that's when damage happens. Natural eyelashes come in all sorts of thicknesses, lengths and curls so it's also incredibly important that those natural lashes are paired with the right thickness, length and curl of extension. When a natural lash has been over-loaded with an extension that's too heavy for it, the lash has more of a chance of falling out prematurely or breaking. There are lash techs out there that haven't been trained properly or are using outdated techniques that can damage the natural lashes. It's incredibly important to have each extension only applied to one single eyelash and that none of them are glued to each other so that they can each grow at their own rate, it's also important to pair the right extensions with the right eyelashes. All in all when properly applied by a knowledgable tech, lash extensions are non-damaging and perfectly healthy.
